That shift toward more continuous, always-on use is starting to show up in the numbers.
Omdia forecasts that open wireless stereo (OWS) shipments will reach 40 million units in 2026, accounting for roughly a tenth of the total TWS market.
The smart glasses category is following a similar trajectory. According to Counterpoint Research, global shipments grew 139% year over year in the second half of 2025, driven by expanding product portfolios and the introduction of new AI-powered models.
Within that growth, AI smart glasses are emerging as the dominant segment, accounting for 78% of shipments. Volumes are forecast to surpass 15 million units in 2026, up from the single-digit millions in 2025.
