A Year of Innovation and Milestones: End of Year Letter from Mimi’s CEO

A Year of Innovations and Milestones_ End of Year Letter from Mimi’s CEO Florian Schneidmadel

As we wrap up another great year for Mimi, I want to take a moment to reflect on the milestones we’ve achieved together. From launching groundbreaking products with our partners to empowering millions worldwide with our hearing technology, 2024 has been nothing short of transformative.

This year, we’ve also witnessed an exciting evolution in our industry: hearing health is entering the mainstream. Apple’s announcement of hearing testing, personalization, and hearing aid functionality for AirPods Pro 2 at their September event marked a major milestone, underscoring the growing global focus on hearing wellbeing. It’s inspiring to see this commitment from the company selling the most earbuds in the world, and it reaffirms the significance of the work we do at Mimi.

At Mimi, our mission has always been to put hearing health at the forefront. We help manufacturers to add hearing health features to their products, across all consumer electronics devices. This year, we’ve made incredible strides toward that goal.

Our Users: The Heart of What We Do

We are proud to have reached an exciting milestone in 2024, with over 5 and a half million hearing tests conducted worldwide, and millions of individuals benefiting from our hearing test and sound personalization technology.

Celebrating Partner Achievements

We have also celebrated some great achievements with our partners – eight of whom launched new Mimi-enabled products, further enhancing the accessibility and quality of sound personalization solutions. We launched more Mimi-enabled headphone models than ever before: In total 23 new models were introduced to the market, along with several limited-edition versions of previously launched headphones from Skullcandy and boAt. In total, Mimi is available on almost 50 headphone models and 15 TV families. This makes Mimi’s Sound Personalization by far the most widely used solution in the market.

Our technology partnerships also played a pivotal role in these successes, enabling us to expand the reach and impact of Mimi’s hearing health solutions. Our most recent announcement with Knowles, a global leader in micro-acoustic microphones and speakers, coincided with the launch of the luxury wireless hearables Breggz ZOHN-1, which is the first product to include the Knowles and Mimi combination for personalized listening and full-spectrum sound.

I am also very proud of how we enabled these launches with our highly efficient and professional team, and that we are covering all the major Bluetooth chips in the market.

Raising Awareness for Hearing Health

This year, we took significant steps forward to expand access to hearing tests via our hearing testing technology. In collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, we launched the Hearing Number App, making hearing assessments more accessible with its user-friendly design and actionable insights. This app, available for both iOS and Android, is also fully compliant with the new ANSI/CTA-2118 standard for Consumer Facing Hearing Solutions – a standard we were proud to co-create.

New Hearing Test App for iOS

In May, we unveiled the new version of the Mimi Hearing Test app. The app has been developed with our user’s feedback at its core, and packed with improvements and innovations that will elevate the user’s experience and empower their journey towards better hearing health. Our app is the world’s most widely used mobile hearing test app, with an amazing 4.7 star rating.

Successful Industry Events

We had the privilege of showcasing our innovations at some of the world’s largest and most renowned consumer electronics events throughout the last 12 months, including IFA, CES, MWC, and Hong Kong Electronics Fair. These platforms provided opportunities to connect with global audiences, industry leaders, and tech enthusiasts – all eager to explore the future of hearing health and to experience the impressive collection of Mimi-enabled devices.

Our team also attended a variety of additional conferences and events including UX Healthcare Berlin 2024, AES International Conference on Automotive Audio and the EUHA Congress 2024 (European Union of Hearing Aid Acousticians).

Looking ahead to 2025

As I look towards the new year, I am excited to build on the momentum of 2024 by continuing to expand our partnerships, and further enhance user-centric technologies that make hearing health accessible and impactful. With innovation and collaboration at the forefront, our team is committed to creating even greater opportunities to improve lives through better hearing solutions.

We will be kicking off the year by attending CES from January 7 – 10, where we will showcase our latest advancements  and connect with industry leaders who share our vision for the future of audio.

Thank-you

As we close 2024, I want to sincerely thank the whole Mimi team for your dedication, our partners for your collaboration and innovation, and our users for your trust and support.

This year has been a testament to the power of working together, embracing creativity, and a shared commitment to making hearing health more accessible to all.

Thank you for being part of this journey!
